Every tumor is unique
Traditionally, cancer treatment has been largely based on the organ where the tumor originated, such as breast or colorectal cancer. We now know that every tumor is unique at the molecular level. This requires a fundamentally different approach, from tailored treatments to personalized screening and prevention programs. CPCT is a foundation that supports leading researchers to make this transition possible.
A treatment plan tailored to the individual
CPCT works towards a future in which everyone receives a personalized plan to prevent, detect early, or treat cancer. We do this by supporting world-leading research that brings the latest scientific insights to patients. In this way we are working toward a fundamentally different approach: precision medicine.
Achieving this requires ideas, top researchers, funding, and (inter)national collaboration. That is why CPCT works with dozens of hospitals, both in the Netherlands and in other European countries, to make precision medicine a reality through carefully selected projects.
Mission and vision
Mission: For everyone a personal approach to cancer.
Vision: Care for patients with cancer must improve radically. CPCT therefore considers it essential to enable research based on bold ideas that can fundamentally improve care; projects that could rewrite the rules. To this end, CPCT supports excellent research to make the transition to precision medicine possible, in which the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of cancer are tailored to the unique characteristics of each person.
CPCT, Stelvio for Life and Hartwig Medical Foundation

CPCT
The scientific foundation that coordinates national studies such as CPCT-02 and DRUP, and makes data and biomaterial from thousands of patients available for research.

Stelvio for Life
ANBI fundraising foundation for CPCT. Every donation goes in full to CPCT research.
Hartwig Medical Foundation
Performs whole genome sequencing and manages the central database with clinical and genetic data from CPCT patients.
Patient data storage
Patient data from CPCT studies are stored in the Hartwig Medical database database (clinical and genetic data). CPCT and its partners apply the following principles:
- Only with patients' knowledge and consent.
- Data are coded and provided in non-identifiable form.
- Genetic information cannot be traced back to a person by CPCT.
- Patient reports are returned to the hospital via a secure portal.
- Researchers sign a license agreement.
- On request, data can be removed from future research.
